Story:

At 0100 on 20 Dec 1989, CW3 Doocy Bailey was flying an AH-64 Apache Helicopter in Task Force Bayonet. His role was to provide air support for multiple Infantry units during their assault on the Comandnacia, the Panamanian Defense Force (PDF) headquarters.

Three Rifle Companies loyal to Manuel Noriega defended the compound and downed 3 American helicopters. Bailey, remembering his pre-mission intel, fired a Hellfire missile 800 meters south of the compound hitting a Panamanian coffee storage sight. Suddenly, smelling the roasting coffee, many in the PDF left their covered fighting positions to extinguish the flames created by the missile. The American infantry charged, overwhelmed the remaining forces, and secured the area. Later, in the After Action Review, Bailey explained he realized the coffee beans were as valuable to the PDF as food or ammo.

The Army secured the area and has been smuggling Panamanian Hellfire Roast ever since to Star Spangled LLC, located just outside Ft. Rucker, AL, the home of Army Aviation.
